Hi! Working with and nurturing children is one of my greatest joys. For the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for babies, and my first experience with newborns in the hospital showed me how natural it feels for me to support their needs.

I have always believed in empowering children to explore their own interests. Some of my best memories come from my own childhood, where my parents allowed me the freedom to play and discover the world. Learning about the Reggio Emilia approach deeply resonated with me—it felt like the perfect connection to my own values. I believe that each child deserves to be respected and supported in their own time of growth.

Hi! I am a current student at Cal State University, East Bay perusing a bachelor’s degree in Human Development with a concentration in Early Childhood Development. I plan on graduating in Spring of 2026! Growing up as the older sibling with many little cousins I have always been around children. My main experience with children is babysitting. I have babysat my siblings, for family, friends, and through referrals ranging from infants to 6 years old. I have experience with changing diapers, feeding schedules, hygiene/bathing, ensuring safety, playtime/arts&crafts, etc. What inspires me about the Reggio Emilia approach is the emphasis on creative freedom given to children and being able to be a part of creating a community with the children, their parents, and their environment. The children serve as leaders to their own exploration.

There's a genuine joy in seeing a child discover something new or master a skill, and it's these moments that truly highlight their incredible potential. 

This journey has naturally led me to explore various educational philosophies, and the Reggio-Emilia approach immediately resonated with me. I'm particularly drawn to its core belief that children are competent, capable, and active protagonists in their own learning. It shifts the focus from simply teaching to truly understanding and supporting each child's individual path of discovery. 

What truly inspires me about Reggio-Emilia is its emphasis on the environment as the 'third teacher' and the 'hundred languages' children use to express themselves. It encourages a rich, stimulating space where creativity isn't just allowed, but actively celebrated through art, music, movement, and dialogue. This approach doesn't just educate; it nurtures the whole child, fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and a deep, lasting love for learning.

Instead of following a fixed path, I am excited to become a co-researcher who listens to the children's interests and co-constructs knowledge with them.I’m deeply inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach because it honors children as capable, curious learners and values their voices, ideas, and creativity. Hello!! I have about one year of experience working with children of various ages. I come from a large family, which inclined me toward looking after young ones. I've done various arts & crafts with the children I've looked after, plenty of which involved drawing from live studies to experimenting with color! I've enjoyed my time with one-on-one childcare, but my interests have expanded as I've researched childhood education more. I received my BFA in Illustration from California State University, East Bay. Throughout my time in university, I dedicated my studies to children's book illustrations, which led me to branch out into education. As I pursue my studies in early childhood education, Lucciola Academy and its philosophy have broadened my perspective and understanding of children. I concur with the idea that children are competent and should have the opportunity to gain knowledge through experiences. I'm excited to be part of the team and provide an experience full of imagination and creativity to our children's ever-growing minds.
